Shenandoah is SUCH a great neighborhood, especially for families. Your street is full of awesome neighbors, most of them with kids, and everyone is pretty close. These are the type of neighbors that look out for you when you're not home, wonderful people. I highly recommend you connect with them! Your house is right at the end of the street and there's no through traffic. Two property borders are lake front, with NO gators. The lake is twice separated from any body of water that might have gator in it. It would have to go from the canal on 14th, find a tiny tunnel into a big residential lake next to 14th, and not be spotted and removed, then find another tiny tunnel to get in your lake. I've never seen it happen, nor have my neighbors who've been there 40+ years. There are, however, a TON of fish in it. Peacock Bass galore, beautiful fish.
It's a super convenient location. Great schools in walking distance. You'll never have to go far for what you need, shopping, entertainment, restaurants all very close, even emergency services. I like to wake up and walk to Starbucks for my morning coffee. If you like mountain biking, there's a great track at Markham Park, you can ride there, hit the track, and ride back. The beach is 15min away. You can't live in SoFla and not take advantage of the beach, paddle boarding, surfing, snorkeling.
We did a major renovation prior to moving in, in 2014. My wife worked for Poggenpohl, who manufacture high-end German made modern cabinetry. You don't see this kind of quality in most houses, usually only in the high-end condos at the beach. It's all extruded aluminum drawer construction, you can stand in them, very strong. We've put a lot of money and care into the house. I think you'll love it as much as we have!
